Oh and by the way in response to the smart ass answer, I have done my research. If there are only stupid answers on here then why is this guy responding to everyone’s questions?
Asking a question like this on yahoo answers is going to get you a lot of stupid responses about the two professions. If you are really throwing up these two options then I suggest you do some good reading, and maybe visit a couple of each to find out about what they do, because its not really at all similar.
Me personally, I would do to the Chiropractic school, but this is only because thats what helped me with my own personal problem. And thats what most peoples opinions are going to be based on.
Find out some more about the professions and make an educated opinion, not just one based on what other people have told you.
I have been to chiropractors before and they fix it by popping my back (spinal re-alignement as they call it). If you know of chiropractic techniques to adjust the area between the shoulder blades, please let me know. I would be thankful to you.
Here’s how I fix the very same problem…
Lay flat on your back on the ground (not on the carpet).
Knees up.
Put your hands on the back of your head.
(You should be in position to do a sit up)
All at the same time…Exhale completely, raise your butt in the air, pull up on your head (leaving your shoulders on the ground)
This should pop the upper area between your shoulder blades.
Also…You can roll a towel long ways, fold it in half and lay on it. This puts your spine in the middle to get relief.
The scoliosis s curve 44 degree, and girl 14 years old, has not have menstration yet
While the chiropractors are good to align the spine. There are limitations to what they can do.
If you take an X-ray of a spine of a person who spine the chiropractor can align you could not tell it was out of place. It is just slightly out of place.
Another thing to concider , constantly having any joint cracked will cause it to wear out / get worn/ and eventualy get arthritis.
It is like constantly cracking your knuckles they will over time get big and after awhile they will be sore.
If you have an accute injury they will be able to help you. But you should limit the visits. Allot of are just out for money and that hurt the ones who want to help.
Now for your back having that much of a curve. There are two options a back brace or sugery.
You should talk this over with your parents. There are risks for any sugery, but the out come is most of the time great. Once the rods are in you do lose flexablity but you don’t have it now. Most can return to sports and have an active life.
If your insurance will not cover it. Some Childrens hospitals will adsorb the costs, and the shriners have orthapedic hospitals that gives great care and they adsorb the cost as well and if you have to travel to them there are places provided for a parent to stay.
For most sugeries you are up walking with in three days and are home in one week.
There is rehab and it will most likely take a full year before you can be very active.

My mom is seeing a Chiropractor for pretty severe back problems. She is on a very fixed income and her medicare is NOT paying for the treatments.
I have heard in the past that Chiropractors are a bunch of salesmen who dont actually do any good. My mom’s chiropractor keeps asking her to bring friends and family to his practice which makes me nervous. He even had her make a list of people she thought would be interested. No legitimate physician has ever done this so I am nervous that she is being taken. He told her she should begin to see results in six months which is long enough for her to lose a lot of money!
HAS chiropractic treatment WORKED FOR YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW?
Study after study has shown that chiropractic is the most effective and cheapest form of treatment for Back pain. Medicare will pay for 80% of the cost of adjustments, sounds like the chiro is not a contracted provider. in my opinion your mother should see results before 6 months. if my patients dont show a change in 30 days i try something different, but thats just me. your mother may need 6 months of care but if there is no change after say 10-12 adjustments somethings not working. Some people just dont respond. I would try to find her a chiro that is a provider for medicare that will help with the cost and give her a second opinion. Some chiros try to get family members in to educate them because 90% of the population have no clue what we do or why we do it. hope this helps and good luck.
I just gotta respond to the other answers: We dont want to prescribe that would cause our malpractice insurance to sky rocket and we beleive that your problem is not a lack of pain medication but a true problem in your spine that should be corrected not covered up, and to the woman whose mom had to go back every month or her back would hurt, thats great, once a month, how many pain pills would she take a month if she went to the MD, one a day for the rest of her life, yeah chiropractic is the commerce.
