Is the chiropractic field an aspiring and growing field?

I have been accepted into a fine chiropractic college. I have been researching and came across a lot of how much this is a poor career choice … that chiropractors are quacks etc.

I come from a very dense scientific background as my major is in Health Sciences and Pre-Med.

Sure there may be a lot of chiropractors out there claiming miracle work or the use of “way out there” techniques, however the statistics are out there which essentially show how chiropractors can successfully positively provoke healthy lifestyles.

My views on chiropractic are quite detailed but I really would like to focus on the Scientifics underlying treatable conditions. I feel as a chiropractor I can be a “lifestyle coach” and promote a healthy lifestyle most often naturally while acquiring a personable relationship with my patients. Treating neuromuscular conditions in a way to reduce stress or “interference” in the human body can greatly reduce your body’s natural tendency to oppose this stress and cause many pains and illnesses associated. I would like to use collaborate myself with other medical professions.

I would just like to hear some of your opinions of chiropractic or maybe the harsh truth from any chiropractors … and maybe some opinions to my views and aspirations. I truly feel I can push chiropractics into a direction where it should be and be successful doing so.

Great question. My suggestion would be, if you haven’t already done so, is to visit with 5 or 6 local chiropractors in your area. Ask them if you can maybe follow them in their office for an hour or so and meet with them to ask them some questions. Explain to them you are considering studying Chiropractic. I have been practicing since 1996, and there has not been a day that I have regretted my choice. I have been lucky enough to travel, make many friends and learn and grow everyday. On the clinical side, if your interest is in promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventative healthy approach, there are many ways you could do this and become a great role model to your community. The human body is the human body, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and working with the physiology, neurology, nutrition and healthy mind etc of the body may be contradictory to the allopathic model, but it does work! I am grateful for the choice that I made and couldn’t imagine doing anything else! Good luck!

Have you ever thought of combining chiropractic with Bowen therapy?
The Australian Thomas Bowen is the founder of this technique and it’s gaining more & more popularity, because it really works.
With Chiropractors I have had very different experiences over the years. Some work with only hands on treatment, some mainly work with their adjustable tables and other techniques.
It took me a long time to find the right one, because the others have plain and simply ruin my spine. One of them even cracked a vertebrae in my spine.
If you have a strong feeling towards this field of treatment then do your best to be dedicated to your choice and not just at the beginning. That is what I found with the many I have seen.
I wish you good luck in your choice and may you be one of the best.
